45-Year-Old Male Killed in Bike Versus Dump Truck Collision

Winnipeg PoliceWinnipeg, Manitoba – On September 7, 2016 at approximately 8:10 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of the Perimeter and St. Anne’s Road for the report of a serious collision involving a male on a bike and a dump truck.


As a result of the collision, Michael Larry SLOBODIAN, 45 years old succumbed to his injuries.

Members of the Central Traffic Unit continue to investigate. At this time, it has been determined that SLOBODIAN was riding his bike in a westbound direction on the perimeter approaching St. Anne’s Road. At the same time, a Mack truck, also travelling west came to a stop at a red light.

When the light turned green, the truck made a right turn at which time the collision occurred.

Charges to the driver will be considered based on the conclusion of the investigation.

Fatalities such as this have a profound effect on our community and more specifically the family and friends of the person involved.

The SLOBODIAN family thanks the community for the outpouring of support during this incredibly difficult time. They are asking for privacy while they grieve and as arrangements are being made to celebrate Michael’s life.
