RCMP investigating two suspicious fires in Belledune, N.B.

RCMP-1205Belledune, New Brunswick – The Northeast District RCMP is investigating two fires which occurred during the early morning hours of September 8, 2016, in Belledune, N.B.


Police responded to a call regarding a fire in an abandoned house on Brideau Lane just after midnight on September 8. The house was completely destroyed by the blaze. Investigators believe the fire to have been suspicious in nature.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m., police were called to another fire on nearby Guitard Street. In this case, a shed on private property was on fire. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire before significant damaged was sustained. This fire was also deemed suspicious, and two suspects, believed to be men, were observed running away from the property just after the fire began. Police searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

An investigation into both fires is underway. There is a possibility the two may be connected.
