Identity of remains discovered near Dettah have been confirmed

RCMP-1205Yellowknife, Northwest Territories – Yellowknife RCMP are reporting the unidentified remains discovered in an area near Dettah have been identified.


The NWT Coroner Service has identified the remains that were discovered. They have been identified as those of Mark Lynn. Mark Lynn was a 21 year old that went missing on the evening of August 24th in the area of Dettah. During the search for Mark, remains were found and sent for forensic examination which provided a positive identification. No cause of death has been determined.

RCMP investigators and the NWT Coroner Service are thankful that the positive identification was able to be determined in a relatively short time frame as this brings some closure to the family and friends of Mark Lynn.

The RCMP and NWT Coroner Service thank the public for their assistance in the search for Mark and their patience as the forensic examination was completed. They extend their deepest sympathies to Mark Lynn’s family and friends, and the Community of Dettah and Yellowknives Dene First Nation.
