Investigators seeking witnesses following a double-stabbing in the Town of Aurora – UPDATED

York Regional 47 x  60Aurora, Ontario – Investigators with the York Regional Police #1 District Criminal Investigations Bureau have charged a 34-year-old man from Aurora in connection double stabbing in the Town of Aurora.

On Saturday, September 10, 2016, shortly after 9 a.m., police were called to a residence on Briardale Place, which is in the area of Yonge Street and Henderson Drive for a report that someone had been stabbed. When officers arrived they located two 16-year-old boys suffering from injuries. Both of the boys were taken to hospital suffering from life-threatening injuries but are both now in stable condition.

The investigation has revealed that the male suspect broke into the residence and a struggle ensued.

The suspect was identified and arrested in the Cobourg area with the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

CHARGED:

  • Christopher BARRY, 34, of the Town of Aurora

CHARGES:

  • Attempt Murder x2
  • Break and Enter

The accused will be appearing before the Ontario Court of Justice in Newmarket on Monday, September 12, 2016.

The other boy was also taken to hospital and his injuries are considered critical but he is in stable condition.

The investigation is in its early stages, but the information at this time suggests that two unknown male suspects entered the residence. A struggle ensued and the victims were injured as a result of being struck with weapons.

Officers contained the area and attempted to locate suspects, but none were found. Police do not believe that there is a risk to residents in the area.
