Sight-Seers Discover Body of Deceased Male, Police Look to Identify

On Friday August 26, 2016 shortly after 4:00 pm, the Revelstoke RCMP received a report from a group of sight-seers, of the discovery of the body of an adult male at a makeshift campsite.

RCMP-1205Revelstoke, BC: The Revelstoke RCMP is seeking public assistance in establishing the identity of a deceased adult male, whose body was discovered by sight-seers on Friday August 26, in a forested area along Hwy 1.

On Friday August 26, 2016 shortly after 4:00 pm, the Revelstoke RCMP received a report from a group of sight-seers, of the discovery of the body of an adult male at a makeshift campsite. The Revelstoke RCMP attended the location where John DOE was located approximately 4 kilometers East of Revelstoke BC, in a forested area, just off of the Trans-Canada Highway.

The man was camping in the area when he passed away. His unfortunate death is not suspicious. It is believed that the man was transient, who travelled by way of bicycle during the day and camped at night.

It is estimated that the man passed away some time in late July.

He is described as:

  • slim build
  • height approx 5’4″ 165 cm
  • blond hair
  • red ball cap
  • bifocal glasses
  • black T-Shirt with a white silk-screened logo of Roughnecks
  • lumberjack style long sleeved shirt
  • tan coloured hiking shoes
  • white socks pulled up to his shins
  • blue jeans rolled-up to appear as shorts

“The Revelstoke RCMP is canvassing the community of Revelstoke and other communities along the Trans Canada Hwy East and into the Interior, in hopes of identifying him. This in turn will permit us to make efforts to notify his family of his death,” stated Cpl Thomas Blakeney.

He was associated to a blue Super-Cycle bicycle with a front basket with a rear fender to support additional items, such as in his case, camping gear. "
