One Arrested in Stolen Auto and Evade Police, Saskatoon

SASKATOONSaskatoon, Saskatchewan – A 33 year old man is facing charges following an incident in which the driver of a stolen vehicle evaded police.


Evade Police - 1121At approximately 2:00 a.m., September 14, 2016, patrol officers spotted a truck at the intersection of 5th Street East and Melrose Avenue. The officers recognized it as a GMC Sierra that had been reported stolen earlier. The officers followed the vehicle as it traveled down Victoria Avenue and made it’s way to the Sid Buckwold Bridge. Other officers deployed a tire deflation device in the downtown area in an attempt to disable the vehicle, however it was unsuccessful. The driver of the stolen truck continued to evade officers until he made his way onto Valley Road and suddenly stopped. Police conducted a high-risk arrest and brought the man into custody.

The 33 year old is now facing charges of Possession of Stolen Property, Evade Police, and Breach of Probation. He is expected to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court this afternoon.
