Moncton, New Brunswick – A 17-year-old youth from Moncton has been charged in connection with a recent armed robbery at a bank in Moncton.
The teen, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act because he is under the age of 18, appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on September 13, 2016, and was charged with attempting to steal money and having his face masked during the commission of an indictable offence.
He was arrested on September 12, in connection with an armed robbery that took place at the Royal Bank located at 1955 Mountain Road in Moncton on August 31.
Another man was arrested several hours after the robbery. Thirty-six-year-old Terry Babineau was charged on September 1 with robbery, attempted robbery, wearing a mask with the intent to commit an indictable offence, and unlawfully pointing a firearm.
The 17-year-old has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on September 16. Terry Babineau remains in custody and will return to court at a later date.
