Red Deer RCMP investigate shooting – UPDATED

Red Deer, Alberta –  Red Deer RCMP have recovered the white Ford F150 truck involved in yesterday’s shooting of a 29 year old man in the Michener Hill neighbourhood.

At 5 pm on September 15, RCMP located the unoccupied truck parked in the Mountview neighbourhood; the truck had a stolen license plate on it.

BACKGROUND:

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP are on scene in the Michener neighbourhood investigating the shooting of a 29 year old man.

RCMP were called to the scene at 2:20 pm in response to reports that a man had been shot as he walked in the area of 41 Avenue and 51A Street. Police responded immediately and searched the area but have not located any suspects to date. 51A Street is currently closed to traffic between 41 Avenue and 42 Avenue as police investigate.

The victim was shot in the shoulder and treated on scene by EMS before being transported to hospital for further treatment of this non-life-threatening injury.

RCMP continue to investigate and are looking for witnesses to the shooting. At this time, RCMP do not believe there is any danger to the public. Updates will be issued as more information becomes available.
