Female Arrested in Stolen Auto After Attempt to Evade Police in Saskatoon

SASKATOONSaskatoon, Saskatchewan – A 22 year old woman is facing charges following an incident in which the driver of a stolen vehicle evaded police.

At approximately 8:20 p.m., September 15, 2016, a patrol officer spotted a truck at the intersection of 39th Street West and Avenue C North. The officer had recognized it as a Ford F-150 that had evaded police with on September 14, 2016 and had been reported stolen from Hanley, Saskatchewan.

A Patrol unit followed the vehicle as it traveled towards 23rd Street West and Avenue H North where other officers deployed a tire deflation device in an attempt to disable the vehicle. This was not successful and the vehicle continued heading Westbound out of Saskatoon on 22nd Street West.

Minutes later Police located the vehicle near Township Road 364 and Range Road 3063. A 22 year old woman was taken into custody after it was determined she was the passenger in the vehicle.

A K9 track was attempted, but the driver was not located.

Property believed to be stolen and a dart gun was recovered from inside the vehicle.

The woman was charged with Possession of Stolen Property Over $5000. She is expected to see a Justice of the Peace the evening of September 16, 2016.

This incident remains under investigation.
