Fort Vermillion RCMP charge woman with attempted murder

RCMP-1205Fort Vermillion, Alberta – On Sept. 13, 2016 at approximately 1:00 a.m., Fort Vermillion RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing that had occurred at a residence in Fort Vermillion. Members arrived on scene and located a woman outside the residence with a knife. The woman was arrested without incident and taken into police custody.


attempted-murder-222A man was found near the residence with minor injuries. A short time later police located a woman in a nearby vehicle who also had minor injuries. It is alleged the suspect broke into the residence and injured the victims. The victims were not transported to hospital for their injuries.

Ashley Dawn Shelton, 30-years-old from Fort Vermillion is charged with the following:

• Attempted Murder
• Assault with a weapon (x2)
• Assault
• Break and Enter with intent – residence
• Uttering Threats (x2)
• Mischief
• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose

Shelton was remanded into custody and will appear in Fort Vermillion Provincial Court on Sept. 20, 2016.

As this matter is now before the courts, there will be no further updates in relation to this investigation.
