Serious Sexual Assault at Winnipeg Hotel, Victim Threatened with Shotgun

Winnipeg PoliceWinnipeg, Manitoba – On September 16, 2016 at approximately 12:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a hotel located in the 1700 block of Wellington Avenue regarding the report of a sexual assault.

serious-sexual-assaultUpon arrival, officers arrested a 29 year old male getting into a stolen vehicle and took him into custody. A second suspect entered another previously stolen vehicle and attempted to flee from police at a high rate of speed. While doing so, he rammed a police cruiser, collided with a parked vehicle and then fled the area on foot.

Officers pursued the 33 year old male and took him into custody in the area of the 1300 block of McDermot Avenue at approximately 1:05 a.m.

The investigation continued by members of the Sex Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and General Patrol members.

The investigation has revealed that a group were present in a hotel room consuming alcohol. A dispute erupted at which time the two male suspects began assaulting an 18 year old female.

The assault continued at which time a shotgun was produced and the victim was threatened. A serious sexual assault occurred.

Tristan PROVINCIANO, 29 years has been charged with Sexual Assault, Robbery including several weapon related offences (15 in total) due to his alleged involvement.

Danny MORGADO, 33 years has been charged with Sexual Assault, Robbery, Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Forcible Confinement including several weapon related offences (20 in total) due to his alleged involvement.

Both males were remanded into custody.
