Semi and Truck Collide on Highway 36 Near Vauxhall with Tragic Results, All Involved from Calgary

RCMP-1205Taber, Alberta – On Sept. 17, 2016 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Taber RCMP along with emergency services responded to a complaint of a motor vehicle collision on Highway 36 south of Highway 875 by Vauxhall.


Preliminary investigation indicates that a truck was driving northbound on Highway 36 when it crossed over into the southbound lane and collided with a semi-truck. At the time of the collision, the 61-year-old driver of the truck from Calgary sustained serious life threatening injuries. He was taken to hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The 26-year-old male semi-truck driver and a 23-year-old male passenger in the semi-truck, both from Calgary, were not injured during the collision.

Traffic was diverted for several hours while members along with a RCMP Collision Analyst conducted the investigation.
The name of the deceased driver will not be released by the RCMP. While this remains an ongoing investigation it is not anticipated that any charges will be pursued.
