Prince Albert Man Charged Following Attempt to Evade Police in Saskatoon

Saskatoon, SK: A 27 year old Prince Albert man is facing charges following an incident in which a driver refused to stop as part of an SPS Traffic Unit Project.

At 10:30 a.m., September 21, 2016, Traffic Officers were conducting their project on Diefenbaker Drive near Mowat Crescent when a black pickup truck was spotted speeding through a school zone. An officer waved the truck over but the driver refused to stop, instead speeding away. Officers began to pursue the suspect, however this was called off due to safety concerns, and members were able to keep the suspect in view until the Air Support Unit became involved. ASU officers witnessed the suspect abandon the truck on Shea Crescent before fleeing through backyards on foot. A Canine Unit and Patrol located the man hiding in a shed. He was transported to hospital for treatment for a minor injury consistent with a dog bite.

Charges are pending.
