Fort Frances, Ontario – On September 12, 2016, officers at the Fort Frances port of entry seized a non-restricted firearm from a Minnesota man who failed to declare it.
The 58-year-old was referred for a secondary examination. Upon further inspection of his vehicle, officers found a disassembled .22 calibre non-restricted firearm under the back seat of the truck. Officers subsequently seized the firearm and a vehicle penalty was assessed.
The traveller was allowed to enter Canada after he paid for the release of his vehicle. He chose to abandon the firearm at the port.
