Langley, BC: On September 24th, 2016 at 545 pm the Langley RCMP were made aware of a small helicopter that had been forced to make an emergency landing into a farmers field close to the Langley Airport.
The helicopter was operated by a 55 year old Langley man with his wife on board as the sole passenger. The helicopter ended up on its side in the farmers field. Amazingly, neither suffered any injuries and were cleared by Emergency Health Services. A small amount of fuel did leak from the helicopter, but there were no other people or property affected by the accident.
The helicopter was homemade and ‘experimental’. The Transportation Safety Board was advised and did not attend the scene. The pilot, and owner, of the helicopter will be following up with the Transportation Safety Board next week. Members of the Langley RCMP spoke with witnesses and have concluded their investigation.
