B&E Suspect Detained by High River Homeowner Until Police Arrive

High River, Alberta – On September 22st, 2016 at approximately 05:10 am, High River RCMP responded to a complaint of break and enter in progress in the rural area of 56 Street E. The male suspect made entry into a residence through an unlocked garage door. The home owner located the suspect and detained him until RCMP arrived. The male was subsequently arrested and identified as twenty one (21) year old Kurt Morgan of no fixed address.


Morgan is currently facing charges of break and enter to a residence, five (5) counts possession of stolen, one (1) count of theft as well as a single count of criminally driving while unauthorized.

On the same day, at approximately 10:40 am, High River RCMP responded to another complaint in the area of 538 Ave E regarding a suspicious person who was viewed fleeing on foot from a private residence. RCMP arrived and began conducting a search for the male suspect who was believed to have broken into a garage at the location. RCMP were assisted in this matter by the Calgary Police Service HAWCS helicopter as well as their Police Dog Service, however, the suspect was not located. It is unknown if these two incidences are linked.

High River RCMP are asking the public to be extremely cautious when dealing with unknown persons and to be vigilant in securing personal property. These incidents are still under investigation.
