Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service Sexual Assault Section has laid 18 new charges against Matthew McKnight, 29, in relation to a number of sexual assaults.
Detectives began investigating the alleged sexual assaults after a complainant reported an incident to police on April 1, 2016.
On Aug. 10, 2016, McKnight was charged with sexual assault causing bodily harm, sexual assault (x2) and unlawful confinement.
Since August, a number of complainants have come forward to police and McKnight was recently charged with 18 additional charges, which include sexual assault (x12), assault (x2) and unlawful confinement (x4). These charges involve 14 complainants and all stem from separate incidents which allegedly occurred between December 2013 and July 2016.
McKnight is expected to appear in court on November 7, 2016. Sexual Assault Section continues to investigate.
