Didsbury RCMP investigate serious impaired driving collision

Didsbury, Alberta – Early yesterday at 2:52 a.m., Didsbury RCMP, with Olds and Sundre RCMP, responded to a single vehicle rollover collision involving three vehicle occupants. A car travelling westbound on Highway 582 failed to stop at the intersection of Highway 22 resulting in the vehicle being catapulted into a farmer’s field.


The 38-year-old driver was extricated from under the vehicle and taken to hospital via ground ambulance. He is facing charges of Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and Criminal negligence causing bodily harm. The charges have not been sworn in court and consequently the driver cannot be named by RCMP at this point.

The 29-year-old male passenger suffered serious injuries and was taken via STARS air ambulance to a Calgary hospital where he remains in serious condition.

The 23-year-old female passenger suffered only minor injuries.

The RCMP South Collision Analyst, as well as the Criminal Crash Investigation Team, attended to conduct an investigation. All possible factors relating to this collision remain under ongoing RCMP investigation.
