St. Albert RCMP Respond to Rash of Motor Vehicle Collisions over the Weekend

St. Albert, Alberta – Following a rash of motor vehicle collisions between Friday September 30, 2016 and Monday October 3, 2016 St. Albert R.C.M.P. want to remind the driving community the importance of driving safely and responsibly. Of the sixteen reported collisions this past weekend, half occurred in various parking lots in the city.

It is important to focus your full attention on your driving from the second you leave your driveway till the time you arrive at your destination. Reversing out of parking stalls can be tricky between watching for vehicles, pedestrians, grocery carts, and other such obstacles. Taking the time to have that second look before reversing could save you an expensive repair bill or cause injury. As we inch towards the busy shopping season we need to be even more vigilant in ensuring our pathway is clear when searching for that perfect parking spot and the eventual reversing maneuver when leaving the lot.

Safe and responsible driving starts with you. Drivers are personally accountable for their driving decisions. Stay alert while behind the wheel and comply with the law. That will help us ensure we all get home to our families at the end of the day.
