Two 16-year-old boys arrested in Toronto Bank Robbery investigation

Toronto, Ontario – On Tuesday, May 31, 2016, Toronto Police Service Hold Up released a security camera video requesting the public’s assistance identifying a man responsible for four bank robberies.

It is alleged that:

– on Thursday, March 26, 2015, a man entered a bank on Keele Street, concealed by a half-face mask, baseball cap and hoodie

– the man presented a handwritten holdup note demanding a specific amount of money

– the man stated he had a gun

– the man was given a quantity of money and fled

It is further alleged that:

– on Tuesday, April 25, 2016, in the Bathurst Street, south of Steeles Avenue West area, two men entered the bank with their faces concealed with sunglasses, a scarf, hat and hood

– one of the men handed over a hold up note indicating he was armed with a weapon

– the man made a demand for money

– the man was given a quantity of cash

– both men fled

It is further alleged that:

– on Monday, August 10, 2015, a man entered a bank on Sheppard Avenue West, concealed by a half-face mask, baseball cap and hoodie

– the man presented a handwritten holdup note demanding a specific amount of money

– the man stated he had a gun

– the man was given a quantity of money and fled

It is further alleged that:

– on Saturday, September 5, 2015, a man entered a bank on Keele Street, concealed by a half-face mask, baseball cap and hoodie

– the man presented a handwritten holdup note demanding a specific amount of money

– the man stated he had a gun

– the man was given a quantity of money and fled

All four financial institutions were in an area bordering Keele Street to Bathurst Street and Sheppard Avenue West up to Steeles Avenue West.

On Wednesday, September 28, 2016, members of Hold Up arrested two boys.

A 16 year-old boy, of Toronto, is charged with:
1) four counts of Robbery
2) four counts of Disguise with Intent

A 16 year-old boy, of Toronto, is charged with:

2) Disguise with Intent

They were both scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West, on Thursday, September 29, 2016, 10 a.m.

The Young Persons cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
