UPDATE: 42 year Old Man Charged With Courtenay Double Murder

Comox Valley, BC: A 42 year old Courtenay man has been charged with two counts of murder, following a double homicide, which occurred in Courtenay on October 5th, 2016.


The male, who was transported to hospital with a self-inflicted gunshot injury, is scheduled to appear in Courtenay court on Tuesday, October 11th.

A second man, who was arrested at the scene, has been released from custody without charge.

An autopsy for the two victims is scheduled for later this week.

The investigation is ongoing, with assistance from the Comox Valley RCMP Forensic Identification Section and the BC Coroners Service.

Double Homicide in Courtenay

Comox Valley, BC – On October 5th at 3:10 am, the Comox Valley RCMP responded to a call of a shooting on the 2300 block of Urquhart Avenue, in Courtenay.

Police attended the residence where a female and a male were located in the residence, deceased.

Two additional males, who were located at the residence, have been arrested for murder. One male, who was found to be suffering from a gunshot injury, has been transported to hospital for treatment.

All parties in this incident are known to each other.

This investigation is still unfolding at this time. The Comox Valley RCMP will remain on scene for several hours. There will be road closures in effect in the area of Urquhart Avenue.

Notifications of kin are underway, until such time these have been completed, no further details will be released.
