Winnipeg, Manitoba – On October 5, 2016 at approximately 4:30 a.m., uniform patrol members responded to a firearm incident at a residence located in the 200 block of Newton Avenue.
An injured 52 year old male resident was located suffering from injuries consistent with being shot. He was transported to hospital by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service in critical condition, later upgraded to stable.
At this time, the investigation has revealed that unknown suspects forced entry into the home demanding money and making threats to harm, while armed with a gun.
A firearm discharged occurred within the residence striking the previously mentioned occupant, at which time the suspects fled.
Suspect details are not available at this time. Members of the Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate.
