Flight From Police Reaches Speeds of 180 km/hr on TransCanada, Calgary Male Charged

Brooks, Alberta – On the evening of October 3rd 2016 near Suffield, AB, Redcliff RCMP Traffic Services attempted to stop a vehicle on Highway 1 for a speeding offence. The vehicle failed to stop for police and took of Westbound at speeds reaching 180kph. Due to a high risk to public safety the vehicle was not pursued by police.


A short time later near Brooks, RCMP located the vehicle travelling on Highway 1. Members attempted to stop the vehicle however it took off at a high rate of speed. A spike belt was deployed and the vehicle was stopped. RCMP arrested both occupants of the vehicle.

George LIGHT of Calgary has been charged with the following offences:

Flight from police x 2
Possession of Break in Tools
Possession of Coin Operated Device Break in Tools
Possession of Stolen Property
Various Provincial Offences

A Female Passenger from Calgary has also been charged with various property related offences.

Brooks RCMP are continuing with the investigation.
