Two from Edmonton arrested in break and enters in Sherwood Hills Estates in Sherwood Park

Sherwood Park, Alberta – On October 5, 2016 at approximately 12:05 a.m. Strathcona County RCMP responded to a report of a break and enter at a residence located in Sherwood Hills Estates in Sherwood Park. The home owner observed several individuals running from his garage and leaving in two separate vehicles.

Police located the two vehicles matching the description not far from the residence and attempted to complete a traffic stop. One vehicle (Nissan Sentra) fled eastbound on Wye Road and the second vehicle fled through a residential area near Wye Road. Police were able to obtain the licence plate of the Sentra and determined it was stolen out of Morinville on September 20, 2016.

Edmonton Police Services helicopter Air 1 located the Nissan Sentra heading into Edmonton and followed the vehicle to a residence in the northwest area of Edmonton. Shortly after police arrested two individuals without incident. Police were unable to locate the second vehicle involved.

Strathcona County RCMP located stolen property in the Nissan Sentra that was linked to additional break-ins to residences in the Sherwood Hills Estates area of Sherwood Park.

Charles, James DIXON, age 18 of Edmonton, Alberta has been charged with:

  • Six counts of fail to comply with an undertaking.
  • One count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
  • Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
  • One count of break and enter.
  • One count of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
  • One count of operation of a motor vehicle while disqualified.
  • One count of operation of a motor vehicle while being pursued by police.
  • One count of fail to comply with probation order.
  • Drive uninsured motor vehicle on a highway (Traffic Safety Act)

DIXON was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Wednesday October 19, 2016.

Female youth, age 16, of Edmonton, Albert has been charged with:

  • One count of break and enter
  • One count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.
  • Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

The female youth was released on a recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Wednesday October 25, 2016.
