Police investigate shooting death of man in northwest Edmonton

Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service is investigating a shooting that occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. this morning near 171 Avenue and 126 Street in northwest Edmonton.


While details remain preliminary at this time, Northwest Division patrol members responded to a weapons complainant at a northwest Edmonton address, where neighbours reported hearing shots being fired.

Upon arrival, police found a male on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds.

The male has since been pronounced deceased on scene, despite efforts by paramedics to perform CPR.

Homicide Section detectives have since taken over the investigation.

Investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a blue minivan that witnesses saw fleeing the crime scene.
