Drumheller, Alberta – On October 7, 2016 at 2:00 p.m., Drumheller RCMP responded to a serious two vehicle collision on Highway 9, approximately 10 kilometres east of Highway 21.
Preliminary investigation indicates that an eastbound van may have lost control when it entered into the westbound driving lane and collided with a car traveling westbound.
The 68-year-old male driver of the car was pronounced deceased on scene. The 65-year-old female passenger was transported to a Calgary hospital with injuries. She has since been released. Both occupants of the vehicle were from Saskatchewan.
The 31-year-old female driver, and sole occupant, of the van was transported to a local health centre with minor injuries.
It can be reported that the weather and road conditions at the time of this collision were extremely poor.
No further information will be released on this collision.
