Sherwood Park, Alberta – Strathcona County RCMP continue to investigate a serious motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Baseline Road and Brower Drive.
The eastbound lanes on Baseline Road have been re-opened however the westbound lanes remain closed and traffic is being diverted around the scene.
RCMP and Strathcona County Emergency Services responded to the collision today at approximately 4:50 a.m..
Early indications are that an SUV was travelling west on Baseline Road when a passenger car travelling north on Glenbrook Blvd ( Turns into Brower Drive) proceeded through the intersection against a flashing red light and was struck by the SUV.
The driver of the SUV received minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The driver of the passenger car was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries. There were three other passengers in the car. Two were transported to hospital with serious injuries and one was deceased at the scene.
An RCMP Collision Analyst is on scene and the investigation is continuing. Road conditions and visibility were good at the time of the collision.
An update will be provided once further information is known. Ages and genders will be provided once all the families have been notified.

RCMP can advise that two westbound lanes on Baseline Road have now been open with entire westbound lanes to be open within the hour.
