RCMP seek public assistance regarding theft of local shellfish

Websters Corner, Prince Edward Island – RCMP were alerted this morning to a theft of quahaugs from Hickey’s Wharf in Websters Corner.


The owner of the shellfish reported that sometime between 5:00 p.m. Wednesday evening, October 12 and 10:00 a.m. today, October 13, 35-40 bags of quahaugs which were being stored in bags along the shoreline after being harvested were stolen. There were approximately 12,000 quahaugs in total in the bags which have a value of approximately $1,950.00.

The bags are mesh in nature and of various colour.

This type of deliberate theft of victimization through theft is not to be tolerated and RCMP would ask that members of the public and business community be diligent in determining the source of any quahaugs being sold.
