Saskatoon Vehicle Pursuit Results In Arrest

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – At approximately 09:30 AM Oct 17, 2016 a marked traffic unit initiated a traffic stop in the Caswell Hill area near 29th and Idylwyld Dr. The vehicle failed to stop which resulted in the traffic unit pursuing the vehicle. As the vehicle continued to evade police it drove at unsafe speeds and in an unsafe manner through the downtown core.


Other police units were responding to assist the traffic unit when the suspect vehicle crashed into a legally parked car at 21st and Spadina. The 25 year old male driver from Saskatoon attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended by police only a few meters from the crash site. The only other occupant, a 21 year old female from Saskatoon, did not flee from the vehicle and was later released without charges. The male suspect is facing charges of fail to stop, possession of stolen property, and the investigation continues into a charge of impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drug or alcohol.

The suspect’s vehicle was not stolen and the only other damage was to the parked car.

No injuries resulted from this pursuit or apprehension.
