Clairmont, Alberta – A man is dead after a collision between a jeep and a semi truck on Highway 2 at the 100 Avenue access to Clairmont.
At approximately 5:47 a.m., RCMP and other emergency responders were called to the scene of a serious collision between a jeep and semi truck on Highway 2. The jeep was travelling West bound on 100 Avenue out of Clairmont and allegedly failed to stop for the red light at the Highway 2 intersection. The semi truck was travelling North bound on Highway 2 and struck the driver’s side of the jeep. The driver of the jeep, a 68 year old man of Barrhead Alberta, sustained life threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The semi truck driver, a 40 year old Grande Prairie man did not sustain any injuries.
Highway 2 remained closed until 12:00 p.m. today.
