Early morning break-in leads to arrest of prolific offender

Whitecourt, Alberta – Whitecourt RCMP have been tracking an recent uptick in break & enter offences, especially to outbuildings and garages within the municipality.


In the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 18th, 2016, RCM Police responded to an attempted theft of a quad and RCM Police Dog Services were summoned to assist in tracking the offender. Several residents called police to report suspicious persons in their yards; this was actually the police tracking the offender.

Shortly thereafter, a resident of Trading Post Trail called to report an unknown male in a garage there. Dog Services responded and assisting apprehending the intruder inside the garage. The intruder did sustain some injuries during the arrest.

A 29 year-old male is currently in custody and the investigation into this and related offences is on-going. This adult male had been previously identified by Whitecourt RCMP as a “prolific offender” and will be held to appear later today before a Justice of the Peace. A subsequent release will be disseminated with the name and charges for this adult male.
