Two Charged After Saskatoon Guns And Gangs Unit Investigation

Saskatoon, Saskatchewan – A 39 year old man and 37 year old woman are facing drug charges after an investigation was conducted by the Guns and Gangs Unit.

On October 17, 2016 at approximately 3:15 p.m. members of the Guns and Gangs observed a man and woman going in and out of a vehicle in the 800 block of Confederation Drive. The man was recognized as being a person they were looking for who had a warrant for arrest. As members approached to make the arrest the man fled on foot.

The K9 Unit was called and assisted in successfully tracking him a few blocks away and arrested on his warrant. The man sustained minor injuries after being bit on his leg and arm. He was treated at hospital and released.

Upon further investigation, the vehicle the man and woman had been seen going in and out of was searched. Officers located 445 grams of marihuana, 0.4 grams of cocaine, 30 mg of hydromorph, 5.9 grams of MDMA (ecstasy) and ammunition.

Both the man and woman are now facing 3 charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking (marihuana). The man is facing an additional charge of possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

They both appeared in court the morning of October 18, 2016.
