Attempted Armed Robbery With A Handgun in Saskatoon

Saskatoon, Saskatoon – On October 19, 2016 at approximately 5:00 a.m. Saskatoon Police responded to a report of shots being fired in a residence in the 300 block of Avenue P South.

Upon attending officers learned that two female suspects had attempted to rob a male and female victim and had pointed a handgun at them inside of the residence. A struggle ensued and the female victim was physically assaulted. She sustained minor injuries. The suspects fled prior to police arrival.

It was not confirmed whether shots were actually fired.

The first suspect is described as being and Indigenous female wearing a gray hoodie. The second suspect is described as being a Caucasian female wearing a black hoodie.

The K9 Unit was called and tracked to a nearby residence. A light coloured van was seen fleeing the area of that residence. Efforts by officers to stop the vehicle were unsuccessful.

Upon further investigation officers entered the nearby residence and detached garage initially detaining 7 people. Officers located and seized a handgun from inside the detached garage.

Three people were eventually arrested with the rest being released with no charges. A 36 year old female was arrested on a warrant. A 36 year old male was arrested on a warrant and new charge of breaching a court order. A 24 year old man was arrested for breaching a court order.

The investigation is continuing into the attempted armed robbery.
