Lethbridge, Alberta – Lethbridge Police are advising the public that officers will be conducting two critical incident training exercises today.
From 1:30 to 5 p.m. police officers will be staged at Alberta Environment located at 535 30 Street North and from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Fleetwood Bawden School located at 1222 9 Avenue South, to participate in a critical incident training scenarios. Neighbours in the vicinity have already been advised.
The exercises will include members of the Tactical Team, Explosive Disposal Unit, K9, negotiators, incident commanders and scribes. People in the area may hear loud noises, including police calling out commands, actors/role players yelling and the deployment of distraction devices.
There is no risk to the public or neighboring properties however police are asking people to avoid these areas while the scenarios are underway. Members of the public are thanked in advance for their cooperation.
Police participate in several large-scale training scenarios throughout the year to ensure officers are well-trained, well-equipped and prepared to respond to any critical incident in the community.
