Three people arrested in connection with aggravated assault

Six Roads, New Brunswick – Two men and a woman were arrested in connection with an alleged incident of aggravated assault in Six Roads, N.B.


On October 17, 2016, shortly after 7 p.m., members of the Tracadie RCMP responded to a report of an aggravated assault at a residence on Route 150. A 55-year-old man from Caraquet was found badly injured and was transported to hospital for treatment. His injuries are serious, but are not believed to be life-threatening.

The investigation later led police to a second residence on Route 160 in Pont Landry. Two men and a woman were arrested at that location. A police officer was injured during the arrests, and was taken to hospital.

One of the men and the woman were later released on various conditions and are scheduled to appear in court on January 11 and 25, 2017, respectively.

A 38-year-old man appeared in Tracadie Provincial Court on October 18 in connection with the incident. Joel Robichaud of Sainte-Rose has been charged with aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, assaulting a police officer, obstruction, resisting arrest, uttering threats and breach of probation.

Joel Robichaud has been remanded into custody and will return to court on October 21 for a bail hearing.

Police also executed three search warrants in Pont Landry, Six Roads and Tracadie on the evening of October 18 in connection with the investigation, which is ongoing.
