Calgary Police Officer Lucky to be Alive After Cruiser Struck from Behind During Traffic Stop

Calgary, Alberta – On Sunday morning, one of our members while conducting a traffic stop on Crowchild Trail was struck from behind causing significant damage to both vehicles.

The officer was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated by other emergency response personnel. The officer is lucky to be alive and we want to remind #Calgary drivers to please slow down when approaching emergency vehicles/tow trucks with emergency lights flashing.

When approaching an emergency vehicle or tow truck at the side of the road with lights flashing, slow down to 60 km (or less, if the speed limit is lower) and safely merge into another lane. If possible/safe to do so, try to move into the furthest lane away from the emergency vehicle.
