Man charged for threatening social media post against MacEwan University

Edmonton, Alberta – The Edmonton Police Service has charged a man in relation to an online threat made against MacEwan University yesterday.

On Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016 at approximately 3:30 a.m., the EPS received a report of a threat posted on a social media platform against the post-secondary institution. Downtown and West Division officers attended MacEwan University campuses in response to the threat.

The investigation led officers to a residence in Sherwood Park where a male was taken into custody without incident at approximately 11:30 a.m.

The Edmonton Police Service has charged John Derek Quest, 19, with one count of uttering threats.
