Red Deer RCMP arrest man wanted on numerous warrants after foot chase with police dog

Red Deer, Alberta – Red Deer RCMP have arrested a Red Deer man who was wanted on 22 outstanding warrants after he attempted to flee police officers on foot and was located by a police dog.

At 10:30 pm on October 25, RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious van in the area of 77 Street and 47 Avenue Close, where they located a 29 year old man and a 17 year old female. The male suspect, who was wanted on 22 outstanding warrants, fled on foot; RCMP contained the area and brought in Police Dog Services, who quickly located the suspect. The 2005 Dodge Caravan had been reported stolen out of Red Deer earlier the same day.

29 year old Chad Allen Brown faces the following charges:

• Criminal Code 403(1)(d) – Identity fraud to avoid arrest
• Criminal Code 129(a) – Obstruct/ resist police officer X 2
• Criminal Code 355(b) – Possession of stolen property under $5,000
• Criminal Code 145(3) – Fail to comply with conditions X 3

Brown was further wanted on 22 warrants, all out of Red Deer, for: 3 counts of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking; 5 counts of failing to attend court; 2 counts of possession of methamphetamine; 6 counts of failing to comply with court-imposed conditions; possession of stolen property; possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose; obstructing/ resisting a peace officer; and 3 traffic violations.

Chad Allen Brown is scheduled to appear in court in Red Deer on October 27 at 9:30 am.

The female youth was released without charge.
