Firearm discharged in Regina parking lot, 19-year-old male arrested

Regina, Saskatchewan – At 3:27 a.m. on October 29, 2016, police received report of a firearm discharged in a parking lot on the 1000 block Pasqua Street.

Police arrived on scene and located a 19 year-old male who matched the description, and took him into custody. No firearm was located, however multiple, consistent witness statements were obtained that indicated the male pointed a firearm at a fleeing victim and then discharged the firearm as the victim drove away. No one was injured in this incident. Another male was seen with the assailant after the incident but was not located by police.

Nineteen year-old Alexander Jaccob BELANGER (DOB: 1997/04/09), of Regina, is charged with:

Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order [CC 117.01(1)];
Careless use of a firearm [CC 86(1)];
Pointing a firearm [CC 87];
Assault with a weapon [CC 267(A)];

BELLANGER appeared in Provincial Court on these charges today, October 31, 2016, at 9:30 a.m.
