Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia – Earlier today, Lunenburg District RCMP conducted targeted traffic enforcement throughout the Towns of Mahone Bay and Lunenburg in an effort to improve road safety.
Throughout the morning, Lunenburg District RCMP stood at intersections dressed in plain clothes in order to spot motorists driving while distracted, failing to stop at stop signs, yield to pedestrians in crosswalks or wear seatbelts. The traffic blitz resulted in numerous motorists being charged with offences under the Motor Vehicle Act.
“Today’s traffic blitz was about education as much as enforcement,” says Sgt. Mark MacPherson, Lunenburg District RCMP. “Every time our officers pulled someone over, we used it as an opportunity to remind them that following the rules of the road and driving safely can and will save lives.”
Lunenburg District RCMP is committed to keeping our roadways safe and motorists should expect to see these traffic enforcement initiatives on a more frequent basis in the near future.
