Man Stabbed at McDonald’s in Port Alberni

Port Alberni, BC: This morning at 7:30 AM police were called to a stabbing that occurred at the McDonald’s Restaurant at 3355 Johnston Rd. in Port Alberni. A man was stabbed repeatedly by another man inside the restaurant. The suspect then fled on foot and was located at 9:30 AM after an extensive police search.

The stabbing victim, a 51 year old Port Alberni resident, was transported to West Coast General Hospital and has since been air lifted to Victoria General in serious but stable condition.

The 25 year old suspect was located in Port Alberni, arrested and will appear in court tomorrow.

“We are still in the early stages of our investigation. At this time we do not know the motive for the attack or if the two men knew each other”, said Cpl. Amelia Hayden.

The restaurant was closed for a time while investigators combed the scene and it has since re-opened. With the apprehension of the suspect, there is no danger to the public.
