UPDATE: Male Arrested in Connection with Medicine Hat Robbery

Medicine Hat, Alberta – On Monday November 7, 2016 at about 11:15 p.m. police responded to the Shell Circle K located at 3001 Dunmore Rd SE for the report of a robbery which had just occurred.

A lone male entered the store brandishing what appeared to be a weapon to the clerk and demanded money. He left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. Police searched the area with the assistance of a canine unit, however the male responsible was not located at the time.

Later at about 1:28 a.m. police were again contacted regarding a suspicious person complaint in the 2900 block of Dunmore Rd SE. Police members were close and were able to attend quickly and locate a male. It was determined that this was the same person responsible for the earlier robbery. Stolen cash and the object believed to be the weapon at the time of the offence were located on the male. Also seized was a toy pistol.

A 28 year old man is in custody facing charges of robbery, wearing a disguise during the commission of an offence and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. A bail hearing will take place later this date.

No one was injured as a result of this incident.
