17-Year-Old Male Charged With Robbery at Knifepoint in Brandon

Brandon, Manitoba – At 6:15 pm, a report was received from a taxi driver that she had been robbed by a man with a knife at 5th St and Rosser Ave. Shortly after, a man matching the description provided by the victim was spotted at 1st St and Princess Ave.

The area was contained and a search by the police service dog unit began, however the man was not located. Around 10:00 pm, officers attended to a report of an intoxicated man in the 100 block of 1st St. When they arrived, the man matched the description of the robbery suspect and as officers approached him, he fled on foot.

The police service dog unit tracked the man and he was located in the 300 block of Rosser Ave. He was arrested and a quantity of money was found hidden in his clothing.

A 17-year-old male youth from Portage la Prairie was lodged at Brandon Correctional and will appear in court on Wednesday charged with Robbery, Breach of an Undertaking, Breach of Probation and a warrant issued by the RCMP for breaching several court orders.
