Two Charged in Beaumont Fentanyl Bust

Beaumont, Alberta – On November 9, 2016, a joint forces operation was conducted by Beaumont RCMP with assistance from the Leduc RCMP Drug Section and Leduc RCMP General Investigations Section. The investigation resulted in a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant being obtained for a residence and vehicles in the Montalet area of Beaumont.

A search by police resulted in a large quantity of the drug Fentanyl being seized, as well as further evidence of drug trafficking. Fentanyl is a highly addictive opiate that has gained significant attention in Alberta and other parts of Canada for the significant risks it poses, as well as a high number of fatal overdoses associated.

An adult male, Zachary JEROME-LEGAULT, and his wife, Simarjeet JEROME-LEGAULT, were both arrested as a result of this investigation. Both are charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and are facing additional Criminal charges.

The Beaumont RCMP would like to thank their partners at the Leduc RCMP Detachment, who were instrumental in this investigation and their assistance with keeping the community safe.
