Medicine Hat, Alberta – On November 12th, 2016 at approximately 10:00 PM, members of the Medicine Hat Police Service (MHPS) attended to the area of Prince Street and Maple Avenue SE, where a male, who had been reported missing earlier that day, was located. Based upon information received and other evidence, police attended to a residence on the 800 Block of 3rd Street SE, where the body of a deceased female was located. The deceased female has yet to be positively identified.
An autopsy on the deceased is schedule for Tuesday, November 15th, 2016, where a preliminary cause of death is expected from the Medical Examiner.
Police have a 26-year-old male in custody, who has been arrested for murder. The name and further details of the accused, will be released once formal charges have been processed.

The investigation into the events which occurred on November 12, 2016 is ongoing. Police have determined that the deceased and the male were known to each other, however the exact nature of their relationship is still under investigation.
A search warrant is being executed at the residence on 3rd Street SE, where the female was located and police continue to search the area for further evidence.
