Woman charged with impaired driving causing death following fatal crash

Moncton, New Brunswick – The Codiac Regional RCMP is investigating a fatal motor vehicle collision that occurred in Moncton overnight.

On November 11, 2016, at about 3 a.m., police responded to a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Morton Avenue and McLaughlin Road.

The driver of one of the vehicles, a 66-year-old Moncton man, died at the scene.

The coroner and an RCMP collision reconstructionist attended the scene, and the investigation is ongoing.

The driver of the other vehicle, a 34-year-old woman, also from Moncton, was arrested and appeared in Moncton Provincial Court on November 11.

Melissa Amanda Lane has been charged with impaired driving causing death. She was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on November 14 at 1:30 p.m.
