Maskwacis, Alberta – In the early morning hours, of Friday, November 11, 2016, members of the Maskwacis RCMP Detachment were dispatched to a report of an altercation wherein two men were attacked with edged weapons, resulting in non-life-threatening injuries for one of the men, while the other succumbed to his injuries later and was pronounced deceased at the hospital in Ponoka that same morning.
An autopsy was conducted last night at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary in which the death was ruled a homicide.
The RCMP’s Major Crimes Unit – South (MCU) has taken carriage of the investigation and is being assisted by the RCMP’s Wetaskiwin/Maskwacis General Investigation Section (GIS) and the Maskwacis RCMP Detachment’s Crime Reduction Unit (CRU).
A Canada-wide warrant of arrest has been issued for 26-year-old Allan Joseph Soosay, who remains at large, for the following criminal offences:
– One count of Second Degree Murder
– Assault with a Weapon
– Assault Causing Bodily Harm.
Allan Joseph Soosay is described as:
– Indigenous male, 26 years of age
– 173 cm (5’8”) tall
– 75 kg (166 lb.) in weight
– Black hair
– Brown eyes
Police warn members of the public not to approach Allan Joseph Soosay if he is seen, but instead to call 911 or their local police service.
