Update: Charges Approved in Downtown Vancouver Eastside Shooting

Vancouver, BC: A 27-year-old Vancouver man has been charged in relation to Monday’s shooting in the Downtown Eastside that sent one woman to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Just before 5 am, police were called to the area of Abbott and West Pender Street, where they located a taxi with a 29-year-old woman in the back seat suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to hospital by ambulance and is expected to make a full recovery.

Two people were originally taken into custody hours after the shooting, and one has since been released without charges.

The second subject, Andy-Oscar Owusu, has now been charged with:

  • discharge a firearm with intent to wound
  • aggravated assault
  • possession of a loaded firearm
