Burnaby RCMP confirm shots fired and one man in hospital

Burnaby, BC: On November 19, 2016, shortly before 11:30 am, Burnaby RCMP received multiple calls of shots fired in the 7100 block of 14th Ave in Burnaby. Upon attendance, police located a seriously injured man with multiple gunshot wounds. One vehicle described as a grey or silver sedan was seen fleeing the scene at the time of the shooting.

Early indications are that this was not a random incident. The victim, a 19 year old male from Burnaby is in critical condition in hospital.

No one has been arrested in relation to this incident, however, investigators are presently following a variety of investigative avenues.

The Burnaby RCMP Serious Crime Team are continuing their investigation and are mindful of other violent incidents that have recently taken place in Burnaby and the Lower Mainland. Serious Crime investigators have been in contact with investigators from other Lower Mainland Police agencies and RCMP Detachments to share information and look at possible connections between these incidents.
Burnaby RCMP has increased patrols in the area and is canvassing the neighbourhood for possible witnesses.
