Calgary, Alberta – The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has been called in to investigate following an officer-involved shooting in Montgomery Tuesday afternoon.
As we are all well aware, in what seems like a nightly occurrence, the high frequency of crime trends such as stolen vehicles, give rise to serious officer and public safety concerns. This year the Service has responded to well over 4,000 stolen vehicle occurrences, which represent a 44 per cent increase over our five-year average. The common feature of these events is offenders who seem to have no regard for life or property.
We are working hard to address these dangerous crimes to protect the communities we serve.
Over the coming days, the details of this afternoon’s incident may be released by ASIRT.
